What is SavingStar?

SavingStar is the first and only national, fully-digital grocery eCoupon service. There is nothing to clip and nothing to print. Finally!

How do I use SavingStar eCoupons?

SavingStar is a paperless way of saving with eCoupons that link to your existing grocery and drug store loyalty cards. Here’s how it works: after a one-time registration of your store cards, saving is quick and easy. Simply click the eCoupons you want on savingstar.com or our iPhone® or Android® apps and we’ll link your eCoupons to all of your registered store cards. When you use your card at checkout like you normally do, your savings are automatically added to your SavingStar account. (Note: your grocery bill will stay the same.) Once your savings reach $5, you can pick your payout from a deposit into your bank or PayPal account, an Amazon gift card, or a donation to American Forests.

Does it cost any money to sign-up or to save money with SavingStar?

No. It is free to sign up, use our coupons and request payouts with SavingStar.
If your account is inactive for 12 months, we assess a $1.99 monthly fee only against savings in your SavingStar account. However, it is easy to keep your account active – you only need to activate or redeem an offer, or request a payout for your account to remain active.

Will you be adding more payout options?

Yes! SavingStar is the only service that lets you choose how to save. More options will be added periodically. Have an idea? Let us know!

Does SavingStar offer iPhone® or Android® apps?

Yes! If you haven’t already done so, click here for iPhone® and here for Android® to download the apps. These apps allow you to choose eCoupons while on the go – including while you are shopping – and also help you remember which items to purchase to redeem your eCoupons.

Which stores participate in SavingStar?

Nationwide, over 24,000 stores participate representing nearly 100 retail chains. Never satisfied, we are working hard to bring you even more places to save. If your favorite store is not listed as a participating retailer, feel free to let them know that you would like them to join SavingStar.

How often are new eCoupons available?

SavingStar typically offers new eCoupons every Thursday, although new eCoupons may become available at any time.

How will I know that I’ve received my savings?

All savings will be posted to your SavingStar account empowering you to track exactly how much you’ve saved over time. We’ll also send you an email to alert you when your savings post.

How quickly do my savings post to my SavingStar account?

Your savings will typically post to your SavingStar account between two days and two weeks after your purchase, depending on how quickly stores send us purchase data. In rare cases it can take up to 30 days. SavingStar is actively working with retailers to post your savings as quickly as possible.

Are SavingStar eCoupons doubled by retailers?

Retailers typically do not double digital coupons. This is also true for SavingStar eCoupons.

Do SavingStar eCoupons stack with in-store discounts or manufacturer’s coupons?

SavingStar eCoupons will work whether or not you combine them with other services’ coupons, but they are not intended to be used this way. Generally, manufacturers state that it is against their policies for shoppers to redeem more than one manufacturer’s coupon for the same purchase. Using in-store coupons in combination with SavingStar eCoupons is not a problem.
In the future, we may implement mechanisms to limit the combination of SavingStar eCoupons with other manufacturer coupons.

I’m a member of Upromise and see that its Grocery eCoupons are powered by SavingStar. Can I participate in both Upromise and SavingStar?

Yes. In fact, SavingStar (which was created as an independent company when it was spun out from Upromise) provides the eCoupons for the Upromise service. You may register for both the Upromise and SavingStar services, including registering your same store loyalty cards in each service. However, you may only activate a particular eCoupon in one service during a single promotion period. In the future, you’ll see SavingStar powering other rewards services as well.

My store is participating, but it doesn’t have a store loyalty card. How do I save at my store?

There are a handful of SavingStar participating retailers that do not have traditional store loyalty cards. Some have “Upromise keytags” resulting from their participation in the Upromise Grocery eCoupons program which SavingStar powers. In these cases, you may register the retailer’s Upromise keytag in your SavingStar account. As is the case with any card that you register, SavingStar will know to credit the account that you have used to activate any particular eCoupon offer. If you don’t have one of these keytags you can get one at the retailers’ customer service desk. (Note: you don’t need to be a Upromise member to register a Upromise keytag with SavingStar or to save with SavingStar.) Other retailers have other forms of unique identification numbers, such as phone numbers, that can be used. See the card registration page in your Account for details regarding each individual retailer.

What if my savings for something I purchased don’t post by the time the eCoupon expires?

If you’ve activated the eCoupon and purchased the item(s) prior to the expiration date, you will receive credit for it. Savings can take 7-30 days from the purchase date to post to your account.
